From outside, the crew checks the eaves, gutters, fascia boards, ridge capping, vents and any spot where a newer roof joins an older one. Tiled roofs can have cracked or loose tiles, while iron roofs often have lifted sheets or gaps at the ends. A one-way door goes over the main entry so the possum can leave at night, and the other gaps are closed with mesh or sheet metal.
